If you have non-essential external devices (printer, scanner, etc.) connected to your computer during installation, these can interfere with the setup engine and prevent the installation from completing because Windows 10 is trying to detect and install them.

I would like to thank you all again for trying to help me out on this problem, if i find a solution i will update this post.Make Your Windows 10 Upgrade Successful Disconnect non-essential devices attached to your computer. I dont think i will be moving back to Windows 7 anytime soon, provided that i don't have the problem posted in my OP and of course more updates that fix things instead of ruining the OS.

Yeah true, i was really hesitant to upgrade but my friend kept telling me to do it, i was against the idea of an OS made and optimized for tablet instead of PC, then Gabe Newell came in with his own thoughts on the matter and it put me back again but then again he is a business owner and the Windows Store is a rival so i wouldn't expect anything less from him.Īfter trying it for 2 days i fell in love with how fast it is, then so is Windows 7 with a clean fresh install but Win8 is more consistent in that matter, i don't really care about the start menu because i never launched a program from the software list, only thing i used it for was for search and control panel and of course the shut down buttons. Yes, I use this (Firefox mostly, w/IE next most) Too slow when I'm waiting for a download to finish Microsoft Natural - the same one I've used since it orignally came out around 1995 Sub-par, gotta get around to working on it soon Worked on it - still sub-par! :( Switched to 500 gB Samsung 840 series SSD - WOW!!! Gonna switch to a 7200/10000 rpm or an SSD (if I can find $500 for a 1tB SSD!)

Touchscreen on laptop/32" Toshiba on HDMI (laid the Sharp TV on a mouse and cracked the screen!) I'm nearly deaf, so this isn't used often Has switchable - Intel/ATI - Used wrong drivers, now ATI card is inop :( Will have to fix it soon! Pretty sure that it has one, but haven't checked inside the case! i am now using Windows 7 through my other hard drive and i have my Windows 8 drive connected (checked it for error and it returned back a healthy drive) but i did however find this log file on my Win8 drive (Windows\debug\WIA), the text file is this "wiatrace", it contained the following : I tried everything humanly possible from the recovery console and nothing works, so im simply stuck in this crappy windows repair boot with no way out. I booted from my USB drive again and tried everything posted above and same problem, nothing works, i cant refresh, reset or do anything else. * Safe Mode dosnt work, it will simply boot me back to automatic diagnostic running and takes me back to the first error posted here " "Automatic Repair" saying "Automatic Repair Couldn't Repair Your PC"."Ĥ- tried disabling automatic restart, dosnt work. Tried chkdsk and it said that no problems were found.ģ- tried through advanced startup options

Tried SFC / scannow and it gave me the same error above "system Protection service could not be started". Gave me an error that the system Protection service needs to be activated. I went to advanced options and tried the following: The file is "F:\WINDOWS\System32\Logfiles\Srt\SrtTrail.txt". "Automatic Repair" saying "Automatic Repair Couldn't Repair Your PC". turned it on later that night and this problem happend.

I updated my Windows to the latest update (some drivers were included through the update), the night before this nightmare started i turned it off and went to sleep, next morning i woke up turned it on but i had to leave so i turned it off on the lock screen (before logging in). I made a clean install for windows 8 through my USB (used the windows 7 tool for that), installed windows 8 without a single problem, used it for 3 days straight without any problems (some minor freezes here and there), games were working fine and 3D applications (Maya, Unit圓D.etc) worked fine. Hi there, i know that there are a few threads posted about this problem but OP's never post enough info on the problem, after fiddling with the startup options and the general recovery process im going to post here before trying a clean install, i need to get to the bottom of this!
